Bird Smiles Orthodontics Participates in Local Washington, DC, Community School Events
As a locally owned Washington, DC, orthodontic practice, Bird Smiles Orthodontics is deeply committed to building relationships within our community. It’s not uncommon to see Dr. Sonia Talley, Dr. Katie Clark, and the Bird Smiles team involved in community events and causes.
Most recently, we capped off our community engagement in 2023 by supporting events of two local schools: the Georgetown Day School (GDS) Country Market Day and Janney Elementary School 5K & Fun Run. Participation underscored our practice’s commitment to supporting education in the neighborhood.
GDS Country Market Day: Saturday, October 21
GDS Country Market Day is an annual school and community-wide fall festival. Rides, carnival games, live entertainment, vendors, food trucks and more fill the event with fun for the whole family. Country Market Day is a wonderful opportunity for Bird Smiles Orthodontics to engage with families, promote oral health awareness, and contribute to the vibrant spirit of the Tenleytown, DC community.

Janney 5k & Fun Run: Saturday, November 18
The Janney 5K & Fun Run is an annual event organized by Janney Elementary School, which serves families in Tenleytown and American University Park in Washington, DC. Last year marked the event’s 13th year celebrating the school and community spirit.
For the Bird Smiles Team, cheering on and jogging alongside students was a beloved opportunity to support both patients who attend the school and the entire Janney community.
Dr. Talley reflects on why participating in the event was important, “We enjoy connecting with our patients and their families outside of the orthodontic office and celebrating health, happiness, and the strong relationships we’ve built within our community.” She continues, “These moments of connection are truly special and showcase our commitment to personalized care beyond the clinic walls.”
